Neither One Won
On September 25th, 2016, a great debate between two political parties took place. Nearly all TV screens, along with smart devices tuned in to this historical discussion.
Republican candidate Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton went against each other to the battle of leadership, in order to convince America their capability for the presidency. Unfortunately, at the end of this great bout, neither applicant was successful in convincing the country that they should be president.
First, Tump and Clinton’s answers to the inquiries asked. When both were asked a question, they would give a brief, somewhat irrelevant answer before going back to their policies for America. While it is not a terrible idea to mention the policies they stand for, both contenders need to answer the query in a way that gives a specific and detailed answer.
Next, they both failed in delivery to the questions. Trump seemed overly passionate, to the point of being aggressive. There is nothing wrong with standing up for what he believes in, but just yelling at the audience is childish and degrading for those who actually want to listen. For example, he would continue to say “wrong” while Clinton was talking. Yes, the US understands that her information might be wrong, but at the moment viewers are trying to listen to what she has to say.
On the other hand, Clinton’s answers came out as robotic and clipped. It is great that she took the time and effort to get all these facts together.Yet still there were multiple times while Trump was talking, Hillary could be seen rehearsing her next answer instead of truly listening.
Before I continue on, I would like to congratulate both debaters on their overall performance. It was nice to see adults act like comrades, here to convince the audience why they make a better candidate.
Lastly, Trump and Clinton need to work on keeping it between each other. Both were incredibly rude to Lester, the questionnaire. While in debates there are heated moments, continually Lester was interrupted by both candidates. He continually tried to keep things calm by changing the subject, or making sure Trump or Hillary actually answered the question. But they would press on with what they were saying, making the situation more dramatic.
While this is only one battle over and done, there are many more to come. They need to learn patience and respect for each other, in order to gain any more votes to win them the position in office.
Once more, it was a wrangle that will not be forgotten for a long time. For future debates, Trump and Clinton need to work on giving better answers to political questions, they need to keep themselves in check with whomever may be speaking, and keeping it between each other. Both have potential to change the world, but if this is going to be continuous, it could be chaotic for the entire United States of America.
