Trump’s teenage troopers

MN seniors attend a Donald Trump rally and take a stance in the race

March 4, 2016

There is no denying that Donald Trump has held an influential grip in the 2015-2016 presidential campaign. His bold personality and abrupt speaking style has both motivated and dissuaded Americans across the country.

Seniors are beginning to think about who they would like to vote for during the upcoming elections. Senior Turner Eakins took an active stance in the political campaign by attending a Trump rally with some of his friends including Seniors Tate Moyer and Brody Buck.

Not only did these seniors have the opportunity to see this popular candidate in person, but they were interviewed and featured in a CNN segment, drawing publicity to teens involved in the political race.

The three MN students took an interest in Trump and in the upcoming elections. Trump continues to be an active participant in the campaign and a dominant over the polls. When Eakins found out that Trump would be hosting a rally in Iowa, he was eager to gather some friends and attend it right away.

“I’m in support of him, and I’ve read his books, so I was interested in going and seeing him live,” Eakins said.

When the seniors went, they dressed in such a way as to have fun at the rally, as well as gain insight into a viable candidate.

“We were definitely being fun at the start with our appearance, but then after a while we took it seriously,” Buck said.

The three students did take an interest in Trump’s views that he has been expressing throughout his campaign. Their attendance at the rally attracted the attention of a reporter for CNN.
An interview shortly progressed that gave the three students an opportunity to voice their opinions regarding the race so far.

“We went dressed how we were dressed hopefully to draw some attention from him (Trump). Afterwards he noticed us and we got some recognition. We attracted the attention of a producer from CNN who just happened to be there to cover it,” Eakins said.

Being teenagers, the students attracted attention simply by voicing their opinions on such a widespread news network.

“When the guy asked us initially we thought he was a random reporter, and after we were interviewed the first time he said he was from CNN and we arranged a follow-up interview,” Buck said.

The three students were able to voice their opinions seriously and efficiently , all while having an enjoyable time at the rally in general.

It is undeniable that many seniors this year will have the opportunity to participate in the voting polls. Some students are eager to seize this priviledge right when they turn 18.These three MN seniors took the opportunity to put their voices out in the open, and take an active stance in such a widespread campaign.
