Technology in sports
New coach brings new technology
October 3, 2015
Not only is new technology being incorporated into the classroom setting this year, but it is also slowly being integrated into sports. The new varsity soccer coach, James Abueg, has not only brought a new coaching style with him, but new technology as well.
“I really enjoy using the Remind App. It is a good way to communicate with the team in one group text. It is also nice that the Remind App is a one way communication so you do not have to hear your phone go off with all the comments that go back and forth between the athletes,” Abueg said.
Although the Remind App has only been used for a short period of time, it has been working quite nicely for varsity girls soccer. There have been many benefits to using it, both on the coach’s and athletes’ sides.
“I like how the Remind App gives teachers and coaches alike a way to communicate with students quickly rather than relying on email, which most students don’t really check,” junior soccer player Geordi Gonzales said.
The Remind App has features that are a bit different from the average group chat that make communication between the coach and athletes easier.
“I use the Remind App to send reminders and information out to my soccer girls. I don’t have to be on my phone to send a group message out, but can send it directly from my computer. I can even schedule when I want the text to be sent out,” Abueg said.
The app has been a great success on both the coach’s and athletes’ sides. Getting information out has gotten easier and communication is faster than ever with the use of the app.
