Ted and Wally’s—Sprite float with salty caramel
This salty, fizzy flavor combination was certainly a pick that was out of the ordinary. Ted and Wally’s friendly, down to earth atmosphere was a familiar favorite that offered friendly customer service. The staff was personable and made me laugh, an aspect that is most admirable. Everything Ted and Wally’s offered was homemade, creative, and the staff even encouraged me to try something new and exciting. The mix between Sprite and salty caramel ice cream was surprisingly tasty. The flavorful combination of citrus and salt caused two worlds to collide. While not overwhelmingly amazing, the sprite float wasn’t bad either. My dessert was priced reasonably and I was impressed enough to give a tip. The customer service was a five stars, atmosphere was 4.5 stars, and the food ranked a four stars giving an overall rating of 4.5 stars.
Cold Stone Creamery—Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip
As someone who had heard a lot about Cold Stone, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met exactly how I planned. With only one tired worker on staff, the customer service was almost nonexistent. The minty fresh dessert included chocolate chips, brownies, and fudge that were mixed on an uncomfortably unsanitary counter, the worker without gloves, and a messy atmosphere that seemed impersonal and unsatisfactory. Although my treat was tasty, it came in the dish already quasi-melted. I paid a little over $7 for the smallest size, which equates to less than 6 ounces. I was dissatisfied for the amount of money I paid for the amount of ice cream I received. Also lacking a place to sit, I resorted to eating it outside. I gave the customer service a 1.5 stars, atmosphere a 1.5 stars and the food a 3 stars for an overall rating of 2 stars.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard—Dirt N’ Worms Concrete mixer.
As I entered this eatery, I was promptly greeted by friendly employees. All the ingredients: Gummy worms, whipped cream, oreos, milk, and vanilla ice cream seemed much more complex than it actually was. This culinary classic included simple things that almost anyone could duplicate. It was high quality flavors, but I felt like I was paying for more than what I bargained for. Although delicious, I was impressed by the clean, friendly, fast-paced atmosphere that created an environment that I would enjoy returning to with my friends. With the food ranking at a 3.5 stars, the atmosphere ranking a 5 stars, and the customer service ranking a 4, The overall impression earned a 4 star rating.
Jones Brothers Cupcakes—Wild Berry Ice Cream
After the eatery earned recognition on TLC’s competition “Cupcake Wars,” and winning, I had high expectations. Luckily, the dessert experience lived up to the expectations.
The customer service representative was hilarious and sparked a humorous conversation with me that only makes me want to return. This aspect of the experience is high in the priority list for a good, classic experience.
The ice cream was as fresh as humanly possible: a fruity, yet sweet and classic flavor combination that was literally made just hours earlier.
I received exemplary customer service ranking a 5 stars, the food ranking ranked at 5 stars, and atmosphere ranked at a 4 stars, the overall impression of this cupcake joint earned a 4.75 star rating.
