Fuller House Returns as a Smashing Success

Everywhere you look: Twitter, Tumblr, and other social media outputs, people are raving at the revitalization of the iconic family sitcom, Full House now originally renamed, Fuller House.

After viewing the tweets of Internet persona Anthony Quintal, “Lohanthony”, I was persuaded to give Fuller House a chance.

When I first logged onto my Netflix account and scrolled up to the search bar, typing in the letter “F” alone was enough to queue up Fuller House.

The first episode revolved widely around introducing the old and new characters.

Of course, the show still features all the favorites from the original series: DJ (Candace Cameron-Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). However, the beloved other kooky family members like Uncle Jesse, Aunt Becky, Uncle Joey, and Danny are limited to short appearances every few episodes.

One big standout difference is the lack of Michelle, played by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. The creators of the show took every opportunity they had to turn their lack of presence into a comedic line. However their absence does not detract from the overall show.

The new characters are the children of Kimmy Gibbler and DJ. The kids: Romona (Soni Nicole Bringas), Jackson (Michael Campion), and Max (Elias Harger) all fit into the cast perfectly. Each character brings a new youthful edge and new creative plot lines to the show. While the show still incorporates its “moral of the story” aspects, it reaches more to younger viewers with issues to pertain to children of our generation such as divorce, single parents finding new love, and creating friendships despite differences.

Along with the range of characters, Fuller House also displays the excellent scene production by the creators of the show. Fuller House is set in the same house as the original series. The house incorporates the familiar surroundings that everyone remembers from the 80’s sitcom with a new modern twist.

The set was the first thing I noticed when I started watching because of the fantastic waves of nostalgia and newly incorporated design it really gives the show a real-life aesthetic.

Overall Fuller House has impressed myself and other viewers. With the combination of new and old, Fuller House is a great show for both older viewers of the show and a younger generation of viewers.
